"(F/n) are you really sure about this?"
"Yes Matthias, there's no going back now"
(F/n) entered the church forcing a smile on his face.

Today the love of his his life, Berwald, was getting married.

But not to him.

For the longest time now (F/n) has been in love with Berwald. But Berwald had fallen in love with Tino and (F/n) knowing that he waited to long had grinned and beared it since he found out.

Matthias had found it surprising that (F/n) never once cried about it. How was it that (F/n) managed to keep his feelings locked up so well? It turned out later that it was destroying (F/n) inside.

No one had noticed, and Matthias who knew the whole story found out a bit too late about the damage happening. What made it worse in his opinion was Berwald asking (F/n) to be his best man.

Now (F/n) was planning to leave after today. He had come to the conclusion that staying near Berwald and Tino would just bring unwanted problems later and Matthias couldn't convince him otherwise.

So here they were, standing next to each other at the alter waiting for the ceremony to begin.
And when Berwald and Tino finally placed the rings on, (F/n)'s heart broke into unimaginable pieces .

Yet he smiled through it all, gave the best man speech, even danced with both of them laughing and cheering.

"(F/n)..."
"Hello there Berwald! I see Tino's gotten drunk already!"
"Yes" On the dancefloor Tino was spinning Emil everywhere without a care in the world. Emil though looked like he was about to throw up.
"I'm surprised Tino actually wore the dress"
"Thanks to you"
"Winning at paint ball wasn't easy you know?"
"I was there,both of you shot me"
"You deserved it" A small smile made it's way to Berwald's face.
"Thank you (F/n)" (F/n) kept his happy mask on.
"No problem Berwald"
"Tino what are you doing to Lukas!?" both of them turned to see Tino forcing Lukas to chug down a whole bottle of wine.
"I should help" (F/n) nodded.
"Your going to the honeymoon soon right?"
"Yes"
"... Goodbye Berwald"
"See you later" Berwald at the time didn't notice (F/n) place his hairpin, the one he had given to him many years ago in his pocket as he hurried to get to Tino. (F/n) made his way out stopping only to mouth a goodbye to Matthias.

And then he was gone.

~After the honeymoon~
"What do you mean he's gone!?"
"Gone as in his house is being sold and no one's seen him!" Matthias entered the house and noticed everyone else talking in the living room. He only had to take one look at Berwald to know what the topic was.
"...They know?" Lukas nodded, Tino and Berwald now looked towards Matthias.
"They know!? You mean he's been missing for more than two days!?"
"He's not missing Tino, he's.... just gone" Berwald finally spoke
"No, he's missing. We need to find him, he wouldn't just leave" Matthias sighed.
"I know he wouldn't leave without telling you"
"Then let's look for him!" Matthias blocked the door way.
"He's not missing! He moved away!" Berwald stopped trying to shove his way out.
"You know?" Matthias didn't look at him.

"He's going to be in denial"
"Denial?"
"We tell each other everything, when I leave and he doesn't know why he's going to probably assume I was kidnapped "
"Why won't you just tell him!?"
"You don't tell a engaged man you're in love with him! "
"Well I guess it's weird but-"
"No buts... there are just some things better left unsaid, he's got Tino now, he'll be fine without me"
"I don't know...you two knew each other way before we all met"
"That doesn't matter, but it's a small world. If we meet again and I'm no longer weak I'll tell him. Maybe not the whole truth but I'll tell him... does that work for you?"
"Not entirely but I can see there's no way to get you to stay"

"He had to go... he needed to go" Berwald still didn't understand. Why did (F/n) leave? Could he have prevented this from happening? Was (F/n) in trouble?  And why did (F/n) never say anything to him about this?

Tino held him the whole night. None of them had ever seen Berwald so broken down before. They  kept hoping (F/n) would appear, but he never did. And one day when he found the hairpin he realized (F/n) was never coming back. That day a piece of his heart, one that even Tino couldn't heal, disappeared as well.

-Some years later-
Berwald,Tino and their son Peter were vacationing in America. Today they were going to take Peter to Disneyland.
"I want to go on that one!"
"Are you sure? The lines pretty long"
"No it's not!"
"Berwald what do you think?"
"He needs to eat first"
"I want a burger!" Peter ran ahead to the food court leaving Tino and Berwald to try and catch up with him.

Peter though didn't look where he was going and crashed into someone.
"Sorry mister!"
"Ow..." The person sat up, "It's ok, did you get hurt?"
"I'm fine!"
"(F/n)!" a blonde with an ahoge and glasses ran towards them.
"Dude are you ok!? Your face just took a serious hit to the floor!" The (h/c) haired man stood up with the help of the blonde.
"My face feels just fine Alfred, more importantly where are your parents kiddo?"
"Dad says not to talk to strangers!"
"Good point! Your dads right so lemme introduce myself. My names (F/n) Jones, and this...thing is my husband Alfred"
"Hey! I'm not a thing!"
"Well you're way too energetic to be human" (F/n) ignored Alfred as he started complaining and knelt down to Peters level.
"Well then now you know our names" Peter nodded.
"I'm Peter! And my mom and dad have been standing over there!" Peter pointed to where Tino and Berwald were. (F/n),just like they were, was shocked to see them there, and only now did he notice a familiar pin in Peters hair.

"Uh, (F/n) are you sure you're ok?" (F/n) laughed, which took Alfred by surprise.
"It really is a small world!" (F/n) promised Alfred he'd explain later and took Peter to Tino and Berwald.
"Mom, Dad! This is (F/n) and that thing-" "Hey!" "is (F/n)'s husband!" (F/n) chuckled as he sent Alfred to get food. He handed Peter back to Tino.
"Mooooommm I want pizza too!!!"
"Huh? Oh yes! Of course! Just um" Peter didn't wait and dragged Tino away, leaving Berwald and (F/n) alone.

Berwald was still in shock though, (F/n) looked different now. He had longer hair and had gotten taller. He had so many questions he didn't know where to start. He still couldn't believe it was (F/n) standing right in front of him after all these years. (F/n) took in a deep breath. He knew he would be bombarded with question after question once Berwald pulled himself together.

It seems Berwald never found out why he left but he was ready to tell him, perhaps not the whole truth but he wouldn't keep his Swedish friend in the dark anymore. He was prepared to face them, he knew that this day might come. He whispered a thank you to a certain Dane for keeping his secret before he looked up at Berwald, he was happy to see that Tino and him had stayed together. He knew he wouldn't need to run this time. "Let's start this again" he thought. He smiled at his old friend and started with a simple greeting. A simple word that many speak to each other, one that Berwald had been hoping to hear again all those years ago.
